Baby Girl shirt and shorts: a little creation for charity

Ciao a tutte!
Ho risolto l'impasse chiedendomi: "Cosa so fare meglio?" e la risposta è arrivata immediata: "Abiti!"

***
Hi everybody!
I've been absent for a while but in recent times between work, Niccolò struggling with the first attempts at writing, husband and home, I feel so much as a tightrope walker in Cirque du Soleil! Despite everything I managed to find a bit of time for sewing and today I want to show you my small contribution to "Creative in Fiore", the charity event promoted by Sabrina in her wonderful site Monnalisa Style.
Many Italian Designers are involved all very creative. I must say that I felt a bit in awe!
I solved the impasse asking myself: "What are my best creations?" and the answer came immediately: "Clothes!"
I thought I could dress a little girl of 12 months so that my creation would not be in contrast with Sabrina's creations and the ones of the other designers.

First came the top:

***
I found pattern and tutorial on the net, on the site Prudent Baby
I calculated one more cm for seam allowances and I decided to make a french seam, to perfectly finish the side seams:

***
The same for the edges of the armhole: I got one bias from the same fabric and I used to finish the edges both sides:

***
Finally I added the label embroidered by machine: "Le Bimbe di Clarabelle"!

Però però... Potevo lasciare la camiciola così da sola? Giammai! Così sono arrivati anche i pantaloncini abbinati:
***
But but ... Could I leave the shirt so alone? Never! So here are the shorts:

***
If you like it you can find the pattern and the video-tutorial on Martha Stewart' site
Compared to the original model I made some little modifications: I enlarged the pattern 220% (not 250% as suggested) and I added one more cm to the seams.
Also in this case I used a french seam in order to obtain a more polished effect also for the interior of the shorts:

***
I then reflected on the fact that in the end I've not quite clear how to measure waist circumference of a child one year old: when Niccolò was born his weigh was 4.360 g, so my perceptions in terms of infants are slightly inaccurate!
So I decided to put the elastic only in the back of the waistband: I used those with special eyelets, can be found in haberdashery, and I applied two buttons on the sides so you can adjust if necessary waist circumference:

***
Again because of my distorted perceptions about the measurements of babies, I did not use an elastic seam at the hem as suggested in the video: I decided to finish the shorts with a bias tape from the same fabric of the shirt.

***
With the same fabric I realised a little belt to be applied at the waistband:

***
And at the end of this long post, here is my creation ready to be sent to Sabrina: I hope they like it, I've made it with all the love that I have!

E voi che dite, vi piace? Spero proprio di sì!

Tantissimi Auguri di Buona Pasqua a tutte voi!
***

And what do you say, do you like it? I sure hope so!

Happy Easter to you all!

Kisses and see you soon,

Un bacione e a presto,
